Answer Your The Eldercare Questions Online

The aging of America has led to a booming industry providing for the care of our seniors. It has also led to difficulties with Medicare and dire threats of the collapse of Social Security. What is important however is that the medical establishment has responded in a variety of ways to support the special needs of people in their final years.

The omnibus site provided by the Department of Health and Human Services is http://www.eldercare.gov/Eldercare/Public/Home.asp. This site provides a thorough selection of choices for locating eldercare services in your community. The site is multilingual and provides both online support and phone numbers that can be utilized.

A sponsored site with good information can be found at http://www.ec-online.net. It is sponsored by QuietCare, a security warning device for seniors living at home. Nevertheless, the site has a good collection of "how to" articles for both seniors and those family members who feel charged with guiding them through the lifestyle changes leading to eldercare.

An extremely well organized site that provides the same guidance and a library of other online resources is at http://www.aging-parents-and-elder-care.com. This site takes the caregiver from first steps right through facility selection and legal issues. Perhaps the most valuable portion of the site is a list of related online sites, broken out by category. Divisions include Assisted Living; Food and Nutrition; Legal Issues; Equipment and Personal Health Supplies; Financial Issues; and several others. For each of these categories the site provides a dozen or more major web sites as references. A few are commercial; more of them, however, appear to be sites put up by professional associations in the industry or non-profits that give unbiased recommendations on resources.

There is a National Long Term Care Ombudsman Resource Center (ORC) established and supported by the Federal Government. This organization is an excellent starting point for localized resources. You can click on a map on their web site and select a state where you'll find listings for such offices as the State and Regional Ombudsmen, Office of Licensure (where you can check on Long Term Care facilities); Medicaid Fraud Control; and so forth. The site is located at: http://www.ltcombudsman.org/static_pages/help.cfm.

Ancillary issues facing our senior population today is what sort of long term care insurance is best for them, and the question of whether or not they should pursue home equity conversion, a "reverse mortgage," to finance their final years. There are increasing numbers of online resources relating to both these areas.

One site that covers both issues and several other related matters - such as wills, trusts and powers of attorney; assistive technology and remote monitoring - is the National Care Planning Council's Guide to Long Term Care Planning at http://www.longtermcarelink.net/eldercare.htm. The site includes 35 in-depth chapters totaling over 670 printable pages covering virtually all areas of long-term care planning. It also provides numerous lists of care providers, advisers and specialized services in four categories of care needs. For the role of Medicare in Long Term Care, go to the government site at http://www.medicare.gov/LongTermCare/Static/Home.asp.

Finally, the AARP provides some basic information on reverse mortgages at http://www.aarp.org/money/revmort/. HUD has a reverse mortgage program that is insured by the FHA and is outlined at http://www.hud.gov/buying/reverse.cfm. Reverse mortgages are expensive, and not without complications. The FHA insists that reverse mortgages on loans they've insured not be provided without a counseling session between an FHA or HUD professional and the homeowners. You can learn more about this program and other aspects of reverse mortgages at Fannie Mae's site: http://www.fanniemae.com/homebuyers/findamortgage/reverse/index.jhtml.

Anti-aging Regimen: It Pays Off

If you want to be in charge of your aging process (and you can be), having a plan that includes a daily “do or die” regimen is vital. It must also be automatic. Discussion with yourself about “should I or shouldn’t I do it today, or “do I have time today” isn’t allowed. You just do it. That’s one of my major rules to successfully control the aging process.

What is a regimen? It’s any system or procedure you devise that you believe is essential to maintain and improve your health. It should also help you be where you want your health and life to be in 25 years.

My daily regimen includes (among other things) taking supplements. For example, first thing in the morning, I whip up in a blender my “wakeup potion.” It consists of calcium ascorbate crystals, collagen powder, a potent greens powder and a dynamite vitamin powder, water and some orange juice.

Why this mixture?

I’ve been taking calcium ascorbate crystals for years. It’s a non acidic form of vitamin C, so it’s easy on the stomach. It’s tasteless and soluble in water. I take about 10 grams (10,000 milligrams). The government, knowing what is best for us, says the minimum daily requirement for vitamin C is about 50 milligrams. That dose is better than nothing at all, but it’s useless to help control the ravages of aging.

I use collagen powder to help support bones and joints and above all, to keep my skin smooth. Cosmetic creams that contain collagen or promote collagen production are okay, but you can’t beat collagen taken internally for maximum benefit.

Using a potent greens powder is essential for two reasons. First, you want to keep your body in an alkaline state. The greens powder helps to do that. It would be better to juice your own fresh greens, but who has time?

Why is it important to be alkaline? I believe cancer can’t survive in an alkaline environment. If you wonder what state your body is in, go to the health food store or a pharmacy and purchase test strips to determine acidity/alkalinity. Put a strip on your tongue. If you are in an alkaline state, the paper will turn green. If it turns yellow, you are in an acid state. A yellowish-greenish color somewhere in the middle is okay.

The other reason I use a greens powder is that it’s almost impossible to eat enough green vegetables. Eating a serving of broccoli or spinach grown in deficient soil, treated with chemicals to extend shelf life and sprayed with pesticide does little to enhance health.

Finally, I use a “souped up” vitamin powder for the same reason that I don’t count on daily intake of vegetables or fruit to provide the nutrients needed to maintain and protect health.

Having a regimen pays off and I encourage you to develop one of your own. In 25 years, when you look and feel as good as you did 25 years earlier, you will be glad you did!

Anti-aging Reality: Not All "old" People Are "old"

It’s a fact: Many Boomers plan to work in some capacity in retirement. When they reach the big six-o, they won’t automatically switch into the role of typical traditional retiree. It’s is not part of their life plan.

They will not fade into the sunset to play bingo, shuffleboard, or waste time and money gambling at casinos. They exercise, are in fabulous good health, and will work to stay that way.

That means an increasing number of 60-plus year-old men and women do not think, look, or live like their parents at the same age. However, judging by images and portrayals of seniors in TV ads, these folks do not exist.

For example, TV ads pitching supplemental Medicare insurance for seniors, depict only typical retirees: grandma kissing the baby; grandma blowing bubbles with the grandkids; grandma and grandpa strolling along the beach holding hands; grandpa playing ball with the grandkids.

Those ads generate a positive response from those who identify with the images and portrayals. And that’s okay. But where are images of “new” retirees who look and live differently? Many of them are also on Medicare and are candidates for supplemental insurance. They are loving grandmas and grandpas but not in the traditional mold.

People have the right to live the way they choose to live. But I am bothered by the almost exclusive portrayal of seniors in the same way they were portrayed 25 years ago.

Showing traditional seniors as the norm to the exclusion of the “new” productive young vibrant seniors perpetuates the stereotypical idea that traditional aging is the acceptable or only way to age. Worse, it gives midlifers a license and even a subliminal mandate to accept a traditional sedentary, non-productive lifestyle as they age.

In Don’t Stop the Career Clock, Dr. Helen Harkness defines the new stages of aging that many midlifers are adopting as their framework for living:

• First Midlife:40-60
• Second Midlife:60-80
• Young Old:80-90
• Elderly:90 and above
• Old-Old:2-3 years to live

The media needs to acknowledge that “Harkness adopters” -- those in their “second midlife”, and the “young old” resent the out-dated, antediluvian portrayal of how “old” people are and how they live, and frankly, I don’t blame them. It’s time for corporate America and the advertising industry to catch up with reality. The earth is not flat and 75 is still young to those who don’t fit into the traditional “old” mold.

Active Adult Hometown Retirement Options

Retiring today isn’t the same as it was a generation ago, and the new housing market is changing to reflect that. Today’s active adult communities can be found in locations far from traditional areas like Florida and California. They are geared to the rising numbers of retiring boomers who have discovered that they want the advantages of living in 55+ communities, but don’t necessarily want to leave the towns where they’ve lived for years.

Contributing to the popularity of these homes is the desire to be close to family and friends. Another consideration is the high cost of housing in the more popular retirement communities, where costs have skyrocketed due to demand and the shortage of property.

One of the most successful developers in this niche market is Pulte Homes, which now has active adult retirement communities in over seventeen states under the name Del Webb Communities. Each of these developments includes lifestyle directors, professional landscapers, snow removal and homeowners associations. Pulte projects that they will have over one hundred active adult communities by 2008.

Because of their increasing popularity, more home builders are jumping on the bandwagon, developing their own style of 55+ communities for active seniors who tend to have disposable income and expect plenty of amenities. With over 75 million retirees reaching their golden years, it’s a market that can be very profitable.

The typical active adult retirement community offers one-story homes that are wheel-chair accessible for future needs while offering all the extras of fine living. Between 400 and 600 homes, most two- or three- bedroom, have distinctive design and curbside appeal. Also typical are spacious clubhouses for parties and meetings, health clubs, swimming pools and a variety of recreational facilities from golf courses to tennis courts.

Developers prefer to fill these new active adult communities with local residents who are familiar with the area and are looking to stay close to family and friends. Although some communities are wary of adding large developments, active adult communities seem to be an exception.

Active adult retirement communities contribute significantly to local revenue because of the purchasing power of retirees and use fewer resources than many other projects with the same number of homes because most houses are occupied by couples or singles rather than families with children. Residents tend to spend more, volunteer more and they don’t overload school districts.

Active adult communities in retirees’ home states are becoming increasingly popular for another reason, too. Many people today reach retirement age and don’t want to stop working. They may continue to work and be very active, but no longer want to take care of a large yard or have to shovel snow. Community living is the perfect balance, providing spacious living so that they can continue to entertain and invite their families to visit while requiring less upkeep. With hundreds of other retirees in most active adult retirement communities, residents also have plenty of friends to socialize with – and most likely they will know some of them from their hometown.

Is Anti-Aging Action In Red Wine And Resveratrol Real?

Results of various studies have indicated that daily consumption of three to five glasses of red wine reduced all-cause mortality by an amazing 49% compared to non-drinkers, which is great news for antiaging aficionados. Now, this may sound great and it is, but greater results can be achieved more easily. The reason that the red wine works in anti-aging is because it's a great source of resveratrol. Harvard Medical School and the National Institute of Aging report that a natural substance found in red wine, known as resveratrol, offsets the bad effects of a high-calorie diet in mice and significantly extends their lifespan. The resveratrol supplements generally contain a potent combination of nutrients high in antioxidants.

An article was published in the November 2006 edition of the prestigious science journal Nature. Researchers from Harvard Medical School and the National Institute of Aging reported on a study performed in mice given resveratrol. This anti-aging study determined that the resveratrol-treated mice had improvement in the physical quality of their lives in addition to . Researchers gauged how well the mice could walk on a rotating rod. Those treated with resveratrol did substantially better than those that didn't receive resveratrol.

Boston University Medical Center researchers found resveratrol in mice activated the AMP enzyme better than commonly used anti-diabetic drugs. Resveratrol promoted utilization of insulin and overcame insulin resistance, believed to be responsible for most cases of adult-onset diabetes. Like the Harvard study, resveratrol also inhibited the buildup of fat in the liver of mice. In another anti-aging study, resveratrol study of 123 Finnish adults, it was found that those with variations in the enzyme had faster metabolism and burned energy more efficiently. Many studies have shown that when primates are placed on high nutritious but calorie restricted diets, the same genes and enzymes are activated, leading to a dramatic increase in health and life span.

Resveratrol is a powerful agent in both prevention and treatment of many factors associated with decreases in our longevity and health. Resveratrol helps fight heart disease through its strong antioxidant activity, by increasing nitric oxide to relax blood vessels, and by reducing abnormal blood clotting and blockages. Resveratrol has shown it can inhibit both the development and growth of cancer cells, as well as kill existing cancer cells. Resveratrol has exhibited positive effects in the treatment of estrogen related cancers like breast and prostate cancer. It also helps block the spread of breast, pancreatic, and kidney cancer to the bone.

The human life can be extended with modern technology, good nutrition and exercise as any anti-aging expert will acknowledge. If we get a full understanding of the facts, we can understand how we can extend the human life span to 120 or even, as some scientists speculate, to even greater ages. Many anti-aging researchers that is more than possible.

Researchers at Harvard Medical School and the National Institutes on Aging, led by David Sinclair PhD, reported that resveratrol, a red wine molecule, overcame the adverse effects of a high-fat diet in mice, prolonged their life over 30%, and more importantly, maintained quality of life. We can expect future antiaging studies and research to prove that it is equally effective in human longevity.

Adult Diapers - Some Fundamental Facts

Adult diapers are a necessary item for individuals who cannot control their bladder movements, or who suffer from incontinence and other aliments. Adult diapers are in fact used quite frequently by many people, and can be purchased at most stores where diapers are sold.

Adult diapers are manufactured by the major diaper companies worldwide, and are available in either disposable, or cloth varieties, which are reusable.

Disposable Adult Diapers are made of a cloth-like waterproof exterior, with a moisture wicking layer inside, as well as an absorbent inner core. These diapers are very popular because of the fact they are comfortable and convenient, and can easily be thrown away after each use.

Cloth Adult Diapers are somewhat cheaper than disposable diapers, and they are washable and reusable. They are made of industrial cotton and can be bleached white. Cloth adult diapers can be washed with laundry detergent and water, thus placing less stress on the landfills.

Adult diapers are used in the following medical situations:

• People who suffer from incontinence.
• Individuals who are bedridden.
• Those who are mentally ill.
• People who are in the recovery process after surgery, and cannot get out of bed.
• Those who are disabled or confined to a wheelchair.
• Pregnant women who must urinate frequently.

Adult diapers can be used in other situations in addition to the list above. These include security guards, who must stay on duty, and astronauts, during liftoff and landing. Other examples include adult diaper fetishists.

These days, some adult diapers are designed to be thin and hard to detect, so they will not be easily noticed by anyone. This can provide an excellent solution for anyone who suffers from incontinence and is embarrassed by wearing diapers.

You can order adult diapers online from the comfort of your own home, and have them delivered discreetly to your door.

Simple Antiaging Therapy

The search for that magic pill that will halt all signs of aging is an ancient quest. As we age, it becomes more and more apparent that no such magic exists and it’s up to us – in fact, completely within our control – to define our own aging. Antiaging therapy may have medical connotations for some, but in reality, the very best antiaging therapy is one of natural origins.

Our bodies, made up of billions of cells, are frequently exposed to free radicals – unstable molecules that roam the body and, in essence, attack healthy cells. This can result in a number of illnesses including cancer. Antioxidants – substances found in a variety of foods – act to stabilize free radicals and protect the healthy cells from damage. So it stands to reason that – as part of our antiaging therapy – we should supply our bodies with as many antioxidants as we can.

Antiaging therapy that includes a proper diet will infuse the body with antioxidants so that it can protect itself against disease and maintain optimum health. Ensuring this proper diet means taking some extra time to plan and shop – paying careful attention to select whole, natural foods.

A diet that is in line with antiaging therapy means a diet rich in fresh fruits and vegetables that offer high levels of antioxidants. Green, leafy vegetables such as spinach and kale are excellent sources of antioxidants as well as cauliflower, cabbage, carrots, and sweet potatoes. When choosing fruits for antiaging therapy, look to citrus fruits and berries – all of which have high levels of antioxidants.

Be sure to include plenty of exercise in your antiaging therapy, as it can reduce stress, strengthen muscles, and improve cardiovascular function – all leading to a healthier body better equipped to fight disease and hinder aging.

The very best antiaging therapy is a combination of a food and exercise program individual to what fits into your life. Tailor a plan that works for you and the results will be dramatic and long lasting.

What Is A Senior Worth?

A senior is a man or woman of 50 to 100 years of age, of any nationality or color, living in any country worldwide, rich or poor and either working a job or self employed or retired.

There is no place in the world that you do not find seniors or a connection to seniors.

Almost all CEO’s in big million dollar companies are seniors or soon to be seniors.

From government to law enforcement to teachers to health care programs, most top positions are held by seniors.

Seniors have years of knowledge from all their experiences whether they are now janitors or Presidents or Judges, they all have much to offer in their time remaining.

Many seniors tend to feel rejected and useless when they are retired from the workforce when in fact there is still life ahead for them at any age or any ability.

The internet is a whealth of information for possibilities that they can pursue whether they want to earn an extra work-at-home income or simply find a hobby or just play games on the internet.

To be prepared for the senior years, the soon-to-be seniors should buy a computer and make a hobby of learning how to operate it while they are still working so that it will come naturally to them later to search the search engines like Google and Yahoo and look for opportunities to make money, or places to travel, or even worthy volunteer work.. There are many search engines on the internet and a lifetime can be spent just discovering thousands of new and wonderful and astounding events in our world.

There are many real and honest programs that are easy to work and can make extra spending just working at home on the computer . Ezines and newsletters are great places to learn and there are hundreds of forums where thousands of people visit each other and discuss their joys and their failures and many new friends from all around the world are made this way.

One of the greatest things seniors can do is write. Write articles and stories. Tell about their life and dreams and the failures or successes in their lives. There are many books and articles being sold that are actually biographies of interesting lives. Learn how to start a blog on the internet, that is like a daily diary with all the interesting things that happened in a lifetime and include snipits of interest to you and invite other people to join you and make comments on your blog. If the comments are not acceptable to you, they are easily removed. A long life lived certainly has a lot to tell about.

Most newspapers and magazine stories today have a website URL at the end of them that can be entered into the computer and bring up more information that was not included in the article. Reading is one of the best ways to keep the mind alert and hungry for more information.

One seldom has regrets for the things accomplished in a life, but often regret the things one didn’t get to do. Truly, the life of a senior is priceless.

All Too Late

Each morning he stacked up the letters he’d write – tomorrow,
And thought of the folks he’d fill with delight – tomorrow,
It was too bad indeed, he was too busy today
And hadn’t a minute to stop on his way;
More time he’d have to give others, he’d say – tomorrow

The greatest of workers this man would have been – tomorrow,
The world would have known him had he ever seen—tomorrow,
But the fact is he died and faded from view,
And all that he left when living was through,
Was a mountain of things he’d intended to do -- tomorrow

Baby Boomers, The Generation That Made America

America is a proud country and Americans are proud people. The United States of America is a country that is made up of different cultures and different races. It is where people go to seek the American dream. In fact, more and more people from different countries think that the United States of America is the country of choice to seek a better life for them and for their children.

This country experienced many wars and survived. It is also a country that has one of the best economies in the world and is also considered to be the country to embrace freedom and democracy. It is a country that is considered to be one of the most powerful countries today. However, behind it all, the American people are what really make the United States what it is today.

In fact, many generations and history have been left by the American people and influenced the world to live the American way. Some countries even adapted the American law to be implemented in their own country.

Of the many generations that the United States of America went through, one of the most memorable is the generation of the baby boomers. Baby boomers are considered to be one of the United States generations that made a significant impact in the world. This generation is the generation that fought for civil rights and it is also the generation that emphasized widely on equal opportunities for all its citizens regardless of belief, gender, race and age.

Baby boomers were people who were born between the post World War II era and the Vietnam War. This generation is called the baby boomer generation because of the significant increase in birth rate between the years of 1946 to 1964. This generation is considered to be one of the best generations in the United States history where its economy grew and civil rights were largely emphasized.

The baby boomers generation is also where education was one of the main priorities of the United States of America. People who were born in this era experienced fighting for their civil rights during the time of Vietnam War. Baby boomers also created a new kind of American culture. It included The Beatles, Rock and Roll, The Motown Sound, and even Hippies.

You should expect that baby boomers are people who are politically inclined. Besides, baby boomers grew up knowing that the American Military can never be defeated and the bad guys were people who are socialist and communist. These people grew up in the Cold War era and grew up hating people who have communist ideals.

Today, it is considered that baby boomers will have more tenure in the political office than other generations. This is because of the huge population of baby boomers existing in the country today. However, more and more baby boomers are now complaining about age discrimination in the workplace. You should never forget the fact that these people grew up in the era where they came of age fighting for civil rights as an American and where unemployment were virtually nonexistent.

It is also important that the baby boomers are people who have a wide view of politics and are increasingly interested in the way the nation is run. In fact, there have been two baby boomer presidents in the United States. Bill Clinton and the incumbent president George W. Bush was the very first baby boomer president of the United States. Furthermore, these presidents have emphasized widely on civil rights for Americans and have led the United States to economic growth.

If you are in the age of late 40s to 50s, you are considered to be part of the baby boomer population. It is expected that because of the advancement of medical technology, baby boomers will be able to enjoy a healthier lifestyle and also be able to live much longer than their predecessors.

So, if you ever think that people who are in the ages of 40s or 50s are incompetent, you should think again. You should consider that these people were the ones responsible for your current lifestyle and fought for your right as a citizen of a great nation. It is just right that you should treat them with respect and dignity. The baby boomer generation is one of the greatest generations that the United States ever had.

Practicing Antiaging Skin Care

Our faces are our calling cards to the world. And when our skin doesn’t reflect health and vitality our personality doesn’t either. Our skin envelopes our entire body and its appearance can speak volumes about our health…and our age. As our skin ages, it begins to lose elasticity. That, combined with poor diet, a sedentary lifestyle, insufficient water, lack of sleep, stress, sun exposure, and environmental pollutants speeds the aging process; the lack of care we are showing for ourselves is literally written all over us.

By following a comprehensive program of antiaging skin care, we can halt – and even reverse – the signs of aging skin. Antiaging skin care involves a synergistic program of healthy living inside and out to positively impact the way in which we age.

First and foremost, nothing does more to age the skin than exposure to the sun. The danger to fair skinned people is most significant. But even if you have darker skin, you are still at risk for earlier aging. One of the easiest ways to prevent wrinkles, age spots, and even skin cancers is to use sunblock – every day, even in the winter. Sunblock can one of your most important tools in antiaging skin care.

Additionally, diet and exercise play tremendous roles in the look and feel of your skin. Maintaining a healthy diet – one that is rich in vitamins and minerals – will literally transform your skin. Concentrate on fresh vegetables and fruits, along with whole grains. And drink plenty of water. Drinking water allows your skin to flush any toxins. Further, a consistent exercise program – while doing wonders for your body and overall health – will also show on your skin.

Antiaging skin care also means the regular use of a proper skin care regime. The types of products are different for everyone – depending on your skin type – but include an exfoliating cleanser, astringent, and moisturizer. There are even antiaging skin care creams that will work to minimize lines and wrinkles. It is wise to work with a dermatologist to determine the antiaging skin care regime that will work for you.

When striving for good health, don’t forget your skin. Take measures to increase the overall health of your body through antiaging skin care and you’ll soon find your skin transformed.

Fun Activities For Baby Boomerse

Fortunately times have changed and nowadays there’s definitely no shortage of fun activities for the elderly. In fact, many of today’s elderly – who by the way, hate to be referred to as such – believe that the best way to keep from growing old is to remain active. And they’re right. While many are working past traditional retirement ages and having fun doing so, there definitely are other types of fun activities for the elderly.

Today’s Baby boomers enjoy most anything that’s done outside the home in a group setting. Biking, swimming, tennis, golf, dancing, bowling, playing cards, eating out, exercising, shopping, traveling, indulging in the arts, and even dating are just a few of the many fun activities for the elderly that they can choose from. Basically, when it comes to keeping active and entertained, nothing is off limits for today’s Baby boomers!

How to locate fun activities for the elderly

As people grow older, many are choosing to move into communities that have been designed to serve this aging market. Whether they’re called “over 55 communities” or “adult communities” or “manufactured home parks” and even “ALFs” the one thing all these communities have in common are lists of scheduled activities. These lists help keep members of the community informed of upcoming fun activities for the elderly in which they can participate.

Weekly pot luck gatherings, senior travel to nearby and distant locations, shuffle board, poker nights, shopping trips and the like are just a few of the many examples of community-based fun activities for the elderly.

Going online is another excellent way to find out about fun activities for the elderly. No longer something to be afraid of using and learning, the elderly are finding the Internet just as convenient a source of information and research as the rest of society. To help meet the growing demand of older online users, local libraries and other community centers are marketing introductory classes on computer usage and safety to Baby boomers. Classes are worthwhile and they’re filled to capacity which further proves that fun activities for the elderly know no boundaries.

Social networking sites are another valuable source of fun activities for the elderly. What began as a way for the younger generation to make friends in this era on increased online activity has caught the attention on the Baby boomers. And why not? Social networking sites are a great way to meet others from across town or across the globe who share similar interests. Besides meeting others, visitors to these sites find plenty of scheduled activities with open invitations meaning that if you’re interested in the activity, then you’re invited.

Fun activities for the elderly are out there and there’s no limit to what you’ll find once you start looking. Staying active and social are both not only enjoyable, they’re great for your physical and mental well-being. With so many fun activities for the elderly taking place every day, there’s no longer any excuse for being bored!

No Matter What Anti Aging Cream You Choose

With the current spotlight on youthfulness, it's hard to accept aging. No matter how old you are, inside your heart you still feel eighteen. The trouble is, appearance defies the inner you! Aging comes to all of us, but it need not be traumatic. Fortunately, there are steps you can take to retain your youth with anti aging cream. Some are simple applications of oils, while others involve recipes of various ingredients rivaling the most sophisticated concoctions you'll find at the cosmetic counter. You can whip up your own customized anti aging cream at little expense and with beautiful results. Let's take a look at some of these home made alternatives.

No matter what anti aging cream you choose, understand that diet, just like your mother told you, plays an important part in preventing aging skin. Lots of fresh fruits and vegetables are essential, providing nutrients that slow aging of the skin. With proper diet and a good anti aging skin cream, you can take years off your apparent age.

Let's start with basic oils. Sweet almond oil softens the skin, as do avocado and jojoba oils. Sweet almond oil is good for less mature skin, protective yet light. If you're older, avocado and jojoba oil are ready to meet the task. Women in the South Pacific have been using avocado oil for centuries, and their skin reflects the care. Avocado oil is high in vitamin E, known to maintain and repair damaged skin. Jojoba oil is the older woman's best friend. A nightly application renders big results. Jojoba oil penetrates the skin overnight, with a soft and non-greasy result by morning, filling in those wrinkles for a much younger look when used as a daily regimen.

When searching out an anti aging cream that's right for you, consult with your herb dealer to find out the various effects each oil has on different skin conditions. Do some research to find out which oil is best suited to your age and skin condition. Many commercial creams contain cetyl alcohol, which has a drying effect and is often included to avoid the 'greasy' look. When buying a commercial preparation, notice the cetyl alcohol content overall. It's preferable that this be a minor ingredient, far down on the list of major ingredients.

A search on the net for anti aging cream recipes will yield a panoply of different ingredients in various proportions. Natural anti aging cream typically eliminates cetyl alcohol, as a counter productive ingredient. Cocoa butter, lanolin, and various oils usually predominate, with vitamin E, C, A, zinc and aloe included to support aging skin, restoring elasticity, softness and suppleness.

Papaya leaves are antiseptic and promote new cell growth, and available in tablet form. You can grind tablets into powder, mix with a bit of water and apply directly to your skin for a healthy, rejuvenating treatment.

Your anti aging cream can be just around the corner, customized to you, with a result you'll love!
